WATERFORD, N.Y. — The Village of Waterford’s business community recently celebrated a couple of ribbon cuttings for the grand opening of Ze Cuisine & Cafe and a change of ownership at Irresisti…
Both Broad Street businesses marked their milestones with the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce, along with state and local government officials and community supporters.
Located at 53 Broad St., Irresistible Nutrition is a nutrition club serving healthy high protein shakes and energizing teas. The business changed hands in February, and is now owned and operated by first-time entrepreneurs Timothy Van Sleet and fiancée Candace Rockefeller.
Van Sleet, a Rensselaer County native, said his ultimate goal for this new venture is to be successful and open more locations in the area.
For now, “We want to be out in the community,” Van Sleet said at the ribbon cutting ceremony, expressing his inventions for the business to be actively involved within the neighborhood.
A few doors down, another local couple was celebrating the opening of their first restaurant Ze Cuisine & Cafe. Set at 49 Broad St., this eatery offers American Mediterranean fare including hummus, falafel, gyro and kabob as well as burgers, burritos and breakfast. Since opening in 2021, it has gained lots of regular customers.
Fouad Harajim, who started the cafe with his wife and the restaurant’s chef Zeineb Lefrouji, said that opening this business is a dream come true for the duo. “My wife has a big passion for food. She loves cooking and she’s a great cook,” Harajim said, noting that the restaurant uses fresh ingredients from local vendors in all of its recipes.
Both businesses were welcomed and congratulated at their ribbon cuttings by Senator Daphne Jordan, Assemblyman John McDonald, officials from the village and town of Waterford and representatives from the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce, who all expressed their well wishes for the new business owners.
