Boosting metabolism to attain a healthy weight have much to do with what and when a person eats.

Boosting metabolism to attain a healthy weight have much to do with what and when a person eats.

“Every time you eat something, your body goes into storage mode,” said Dr. Jessica Cutler, a weight-loss surgeon at the Maryland Bariatric Center at Mercy Medical Center. “All of the food and energy you’ve just taken in is getting stored in your body. So, by increasing the time that we spend not eating — increasing the time we spend out of storage mode — we can tell our metabolism to work the other way, to go back and use some of that energy that we’ve already stored.”

To boost metabolism, Cutler suggests increasing proteins, exercise, drink cold water, build muscle, get a good night’s sleep and cut down on snacking between meals.
