The Strongest Pre-Workout We Make
Strongest usually just means most caffeine, which is a low bar and an easy one to clear irresponsibly. Here is what is actually in this one, why the caffeine comes from two sources, and who should not take it.
Start with the warning
Sledgehammer contains about 375 mg of caffeine per scoop. For reference, a strong cup of coffee is around 100 mg, and the commonly cited daily ceiling for healthy adults is 400 mg from all sources.
That means one scoop is most of your day's caffeine. Do not take it alongside your usual coffee without doing the arithmetic first. Assess tolerance with half a scoop. Do not take it in the evening. Take periodic breaks so your tolerance does not creep up.
If you are new to pre-workout, start somewhere else — Category5 is stim-free and fully dosed. If you are pregnant, nursing, sensitive to stimulants, or managing blood pressure or a heart condition, this is one to ask your doctor about rather than experiment with.
Why the caffeine comes from two sources
300 mg is caffeine anhydrous — fast, sharp, the part you feel in twenty minutes.
100 mg is Infinergy™ di-caffeine malate, which releases more slowly. The point is the taper. A single fast-acting dose spikes and then drops out from under you, and the drop is what people call the crash.
Splitting the delivery does not make it gentler at the peak. It makes the descent less abrupt.
The rest of the panel, printed
1,600 mg beta-alanine — buffers acid build-up so the back half of a set stays available. This is the tingle.
1,000 mg L-arginine and 500 mg agmatine sulfate — a nitric-oxide precursor and a partner that extends the pump.
250 mg Alpha-GPC (50%) — the focus ingredient, and the one most often present at a token dose elsewhere.
200 mg green tea extract (50% EGCG) and 5 mg piperine for absorption.
Per scoop: 4 calories, 1 g carbohydrate, 0 g added sugar. No proprietary blend anywhere on the panel — every number above is printed on the tub, which is the only way you can check any of this.

Any brand can put 400 mg of caffeine in a scoop. It costs almost nothing and it guarantees you will feel something, which is usually enough to sell a tub.
The expensive parts are the ones you do not feel immediately — a real Alpha-GPC dose, a real beta-alanine dose, a second caffeine source that exists only to smooth the exit. That is where a formula either spent the money or did not, and the panel is where you find out.

Frequently asked questions
How much caffeine is in Sledgehammer?
About 375 mg per scoop, from 300 mg caffeine anhydrous plus 100 mg Infinergy di-caffeine malate. The commonly cited daily ceiling for healthy adults is 400 mg from all sources, so one scoop is most of a day's caffeine.
Is Sledgehammer good for beginners?
No. At about 375 mg of caffeine it is a high-stimulant formula. If you are new to pre-workout, start with a stim-free option like Category5, or assess your tolerance with half a scoop.
Can I take it every day?
Many people do, but with about 375 mg of caffeine per serving it is worth watching your total daily intake and taking periodic breaks so your tolerance does not creep up.
Can I drink coffee with it?
Do the arithmetic first. One scoop plus a couple of coffees will put you well past 400 mg. If you want your coffee, a stim-free pre-workout is the better pairing.
Why two types of caffeine?
Caffeine anhydrous hits fast; Infinergy di-caffeine malate releases more slowly. The second source is there to soften the drop-off at the end rather than to raise the peak.
How long before training should I take it?
Twenty to thirty minutes. Avoid late-evening use, because caffeine has a half-life of roughly five to six hours.
